This Saturday’s run will be to King Lake from Hessie trailhead.
http://www.protrails.com/trail.php?trailID=28
Meet at the Justice Center at 6th and Canyon by 6:15. We will all carpool up to
the Hessie Trailhead.
Some Banditos are running from Eldora to Fraser (starting from Hessie as well).
Those folks may need help being shuttled to the trailhead (as can’t park their
cars at Hessie overnight). We’ll figure that out Saturday morning.
Plan for a 2-1/2 hour run. The King Lake trail from Hesse is 10.8 miles. Bring
plenty of water, food, layers, etc. Potato chips and pretzels are always a hit
to share afterwards.
See you then! HAH!

Then, meet at Southern Sun for some fun and the long awaited Banditos Hats! Those who joined for 2010 will receive their long awaited hats, with much gratitude from Head Sweats and Kevin. Be prepared to sign a card (and drink and eat, of course!)
Here’s a photo from our Buchanan Pass run. Mucho Funo!

This coming week, the Monday night run will be on Tuesday 7/6 in celebration of Independence Day. The following week, we will do a team meeting at the Southern Sun following the Monday night run. Here is the plan:
Tuesday, 7/6/10 – Chautauqua. Shelby and I had such a nice run there this week, let’s do it again. 6:00pm at the Ranger Cottage.
Monday, 7/12/10 – Dowdy Draw – Springbok Loop – Should be cooler up in the trees on top. 6:00pm. Then we head to the Southern Sun for a very important team meeting to discuss and solve world problems. Plus rumor has it the long awaited visors will be distributed. First one there, grab a big table. Probably 7:30 or so.

Saturday July 3rd falls on a holiday weekend with lots of adventures planned by bandits. Thus this 7/3 will be a “free” run weekend with no designated route leader.
Suggestions:
1. Local: Mesa Trail at dawn. Watch the sunrise and finish as most hikers are starting. Make sure you don’t shower for a few days prior so you pass hikers with glam! Be cautious at the Bear Canyon pool just beyond Mesa as mountain lions have wild drinking parties there until the early hours.
2. Semi-Local: Back to Golden Gate State Park. Try the Rifleman Campground trailhead and head out to Windy Peak. Lots of gnarly uphills for cursing practice. If you have time, get your bandit self through a loop that includes Frazer meadow – peaceful self practice.
3. Head west: 4th of July and Hessie are always good bets or up Arapahoe pass is always a treat. Go early; avoid being on top beyond Noon. Lightning + Bandits = Bad, (but not the good kind of bad-ass “bad”)
4. Epic: Drive or ride (yes your bike) up (super early or camp?) to Rocky Mountain National Park to Bear Lake trailhead. Run up to Flattop mountain then across the Divide’s National Scenic trail to the Green Mountain trailhead enjoying Granite Falls along the way. Feeling good? – side trip to Haynach Lake or skip dinner in Grand and run back to Bear. Sounds good to me…
Whatever you do, have fun and be safe!

This week, we will run from the South Boulder Creek TH on highway 93. Run up west towards Mesa trail and loop back down.
Meet at 6:00pm. The TH is on the west side of 93 just south of Boulder. It has a name, but I can never remember what it is. Ifer calls it the Lafayette water department TH.
Cheers!
