Come join our ceremony of trails and nature this Saturday 2/27/2010. We will meet at 8-am-ish at the FourMile Creek TH (aka – South Foothills), south side of Lee Hill Rd., about 1/4 mile west of the Broadway-Lee Hill intersection.
We will head south down Wonderland Lake, stay west of 4th St. on the social trails back there, head up to the top of the Sanitas Valley Trail, bomb downhill, head up Anenome and over to Eben G Fine, and take the fire road up up to the lower Flagstaff overlook and then head up all or part of Flagstaff – time dependent. Then – turn around and do it all the other way.
Run will be about 2 1/2 hours for the long group. Mileage (approximate only):
–> From the TH on Lee Hill to Eben G Fine park will be about 4 miles one-way.
–> To the mid-top of Flag will be somewhere in the 6-ish miles neighborhood (one-way).
–> There may be a couple hills here and there.

Hi Banditos,
This Saturday, we will meet at Chautauqua Ranger Station at 8am for our long run. Directions here. See you then! Here’s the route:
Ok, Chillin of the Snow…we’ll be doing our warmup on Saturday by walking from the Ranger Station toward Mesa until we meet Bluebell at the Outhouse. That should get your heart rate going. We’ll peel off to the left and lumber on over Mesa until we intersect Bear Mountain Trail. This is a cutoff for a 10k for those wanting short mileage. Continuing up is a treat…Bear Canyon trail has been re-routed and new glorious switchbacks climb up, up, up. Joy of Joys. If the mileage is still about the same, we’re looking at 3.4 round trip added the the 6.2m (RT) for a total of 9.6m. This might seem a bit short on mileage but given that it’s supposed to snow through Saturday, this seems realistic. Additional mileage can be gained by either returning to Mesa and heading south out and back or by traversing the back side of Green Mountain. If anyone’s interested in additional mileage via either return, let me know and I’ll add a suggestion that’ll work your quads and hammies (Green Mtn) or lead you to leisure along Mesa. Happy Friday!
If you haven’t paid your blood money, cough it up or Dave Harrison will slap a lien on your favorite shoes. Seriously, Chief Money Bandita Dawn will be there on Saturday if you want to contribute.

When: Saturday, 2/13, 8am

Join us! Hah!
Where: Doudy Draw Trailhead (directions)
The run this Saturday will be a two part loop for the long run. Each loop will be a little over 8 miles
for a total of about 16.7 miles. Plan on using the TH as an aid station between loops, so bring extra fuel to leave in your vehicle and/or a change or shoes to keep warm.
Loop #1 – 8.3 miles
- Doudy Draw trail to Spring Brook Loop South.
- Spring Brook Loop South to Goshawk Ridge (over the bridge).
- Goshawk Ridge down to Fowler Trail.
- Fowler Trail up the water service road to Spring Brook Loop North.
- Spring Brook Loop North back to Doudy Draw and then down to the TH for refueling.
Loop #2 – 8.4 miles
- Leave TH and head east on the Community Ditch Trail.
- Cross over Hwy 93 and head up the Greenbelt Plateau Trail to the TH on Hwy 128.
- Cross over 93 again and take the Flatirons North Vista trail to the top of the mesa. This is the old trail straight across the mesa.
- Down the Doudy Draw trail to the TH.
It sounds more confusing than it is. We have all down these loops many times.
Most likely, all of these trails will be either snow covered and/or muddy. As a group, we need to remember to practice good trail etiquette including staying on the trail and not straying off to avoid wet or muddy areas. Basically, get muddy as necessary to protect our trails.
I would highly suggest traction for this run, especially the first loop. Up high in the trees on Goshawk, I would expect it to be very icy.
See you then!
